Is Nasa Justified in spending $80m to slam a space ship into the moon?

Yes, 80 million dollars is a lot of money to spend sending a probe to the moon.  Well if you think about the fact that we have a limit amout of resources on this planet and if we don't get moving toward reaching out for resources outside of our planet, we're screwed!  The object of the mission was to determine if there was or is water frozen beneath the surface.  If there is, that could be a potential source of water in the future.  Like when ours is so polluted that we can't drink it any more?  Yes, there is a justification for spending money for this kind of thing.  There are a lot of other resources on the moon the we Earthlings can make use of.
